The best Tonto?
To most people, Jay Silverheels is the one and only Tonto. Those who grew up on radio claim John Todd as their Tonto. Serial fans might relate to Chief Thundercloud. Younger generations may better identify with Michael Horse or Nathaniel Arcand. Of all these actors, which one is THE Tonto? Which one is YOUR Tonto?

Clayton Moore is the definitive Lone Ranger. Jay Silverheels is Tonto, though a little stiff in the protrayal. Michael horse did a credible job and would have been better with a little more study for the part.
I loved Nathaniel Arcand. But I think I would rather see him in underwear commericals :)
Help! What was the phrase that Tonto used when in agreement with the Lone Ranger "You ---,Kimosabe."
Okay...I admit it. I am a bit biased. But I just saw Nathaniel Arcand in the WB's "Lone Ranger." He OWNED that movie. So Nathaniel, you get my vote!
when i was growing up watching the lone ranger and tonto galloping across the plains, that was the best then. having watched the WB 2000 version made me long for yesteryear. not saying it was all bad though. i did like the tonto in that one. but all and all, jay silverheels is the best tonto and nathaniel arcand a close 2nd. sorry, nathaniel. ;)
Jay Silverheels as I grew up with him in that role. I would have preferred that he had speaking parts as good as what Clayton had but I appreciated his acting ability and what his character stood for. Nathaniel Arcand would probably make a good and updated Tonto but please, nothing like the role that WB tried to pass off.
